Personnel
The liner notes to a 1965 Capitol album of Trio material stated that "engineering credits for Capitol's early sessions at MacGregor's Studios are difficult to establish with finality. Art Felthousen was MacGregor's chief engineer. Mixer on Capitol's earliest sessions, unitl he went into the Army in the winter of 1944, was Victor Quan, who thus may figured in the 1943 sessions of the King Cole Trio. But other Capitol sessions of that era were engineered by Victor's brother Paul Quan and by Ben Jordan, both of whom figured in early King Cole Trio dates". Carson Taylor, who would work with Cole at Capitol in the Tower era, may also have participated in some of the Trio sessions at MacGregor's.
Composers
Publisher Irving Mills typically receives credit for "Fly Right", but he had nothing to do with composing the song. Cole sold the song to him outright prior to it becoming a hit.
Nadine Robinson, Cole's first wife, is credited for composing "Jumpin' At Capitol", although Nat likely composed this song himself.
Take Numbers
Teubig reports take 3 for "Straighten Up and Fly Right", but this is probably a typo. All other sources say take 4. It is not known what take the alternate is; maybe take 3.

Composers
As with "Jumpin' At Capitol", Nadine Robinson is credited as composing "Easy Listening Blues". This is almost certainly the work of Nat himself.
Songs
Some sources suggest an alternate take of "Easy Listening Blues" was issued on a French 78 (#306). At the time the Mosaic set was being assembled, no alternate take could be found in the Capitol vault for inclusion in that set. Until the alternate can be confirmed, only the master will be reported here.

Song Titles
Master 750 appears in the 1945 Catalog of Copyright entries as both "I Call My Papa, Fla-Ga-La-Pa" and "Fla-Ga-La-Pa". It appears here as in the Mosaic set, which was the first commercial release.
Master 751 appears alternately as "It Is Better…" and "It's Better…". The former is how the title appears on the 78 of a later recording, and also in the Mosaic set.
Composers
The Mosaic set lists only Nat Cole as the composer of master #751, although early issues of this song (remade at a later session) credit 'Cole-Leeds-Levinson'. Levinson was the birth name and a pseudonym of Robert Wells, who would write "The Christmas Song" with Mel Tormé.

Nat Cole (v) on e, g-h, j-k.
Songs
"F. S. T. (Fine, Sweet & Tasty)" was used as the opening and closing theme music (a-b., respectively) for the Trio's transcription discs. It is not known exactly when these sides were recorded, but it is assumed they were recorded on or near this first transcription date.
Personnel
The inclusion of Lee Gillette and John Palladino is merely speculative, though it is highly likely that both men were involved on this and many of the Trio's subsequent transcription sessions.

Overdubs
According to Michel Ruppli's Capitol Discography—based on Capitol files—all or some of the orchestral parts were overdubbed on December 20, 1947 at Radio Recorders (Session #678-A). Although questionable, it is possible, however contrary to Capitol and union practices at the time, particularly in the pre-tape era.
Take Numbers
Mosaic lists take 1 for "Nature Boy"; all others say take 5. It is not known if this discrepancy is related to the issue of orchestral overdubs mentioned above.

Composers
"That's The Kind Of Gal I Dream Of" was incorrectly credited by the Mosaic set and the Teubig discography to composers Marvin Fisher and Jack Segal. The song was actually composed by John Frigo, Lou Carter, and Herb Ellis, known at the time as The Three Winds.

Take Numbers
Mosaic and Teubig say take 3 for "Lulubelle". Ruppli says take 4.
Personnel
As with the later "Portrait of Jennie", it's possible that Carlye Hall only conducted but did not arrange.
Composers
"Lulubelle" is credited to Gary Romero, a pseudonym of Nicholas Catsos.
