Introduction

Although most of these performances were televised, only the audio has survived on acetate transcriptions made by a New York radio station. Patsy Cline was a frequent guest on Arthur Godfrey and Friends during 1957-1958.

Arthur Godfrey was a major public figure in the 1940s and 1950s, hosting programs on both radio and television. The most popular was Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, which featured amateur entertainers making national television debuts. Future stars who got an early start on Talent Scouts include Tony Bennett, Lenny Bruce, Marilyn Horne and Pat Boone.
